Open Call for New Scripts

Got Plays?

We’re always looking for new works and we love meeting new artists! For more info, see our submissions page.

Introducing The Playground…

State of Play Productions is looking for scripts, large and small, dramatic and comedic, and we’re especially interested in new voices. We are not a traditional presenting house.  Instead we take an active role in workshopping the plays we produce.  So if you’re a new playwright looking for a theatre company to work with, or an old playwright with a new idea, we’re looking for you!

The Return of Random Acts!

Adam la Faci, Brooks Reeves and Chloe Demrovsky in \

When Playwright Mike Dowling wrote Random Acts, he created some of the characters specifically for State of Play members. We now have the opportunity to reprise those roles with a new tour of Western Massachusetts in May presented by The Chester Theatre Company.  After rehearsing at the Atlantic Theatre Company in New York with Mike Dowling we will continue in Massachusetts with the production’s original director, Byam Stevens. The new tour is a warm-up for a planned run of New York City area schools as part of our 2009 season. Roles being reprised include: Chloe Demrovsky as the “wicked popular” Jackie Metcalf, Adam la Faci as the star athlete Mark Mooney and Jyll Mihlek as “freakshow” Kairin Brewer. Loren Vandegrift plays the trouble-maker Davis, Michelle Concha is the uber-motivated Anna Hallaway and Mat Bussler plays the awkward Tim Reilly.

Deacon Brodie’s Pub

Tips

On Thursday, June 7, 2007, good friends drank together to support a good cause! Slainte! “Because, in Ireland, where the pub is home, and blurred vision is a comfort, you can’t just get drunk. No, you can get pissed. You can get fluthered. You can get jarred. You can get trousered. You can get polluted, ossified, twisted, stocious, bollixed, plastered, tanked, locked, blethered, blathered, smashed, banjaxed, shitfaced, pickled, scuttered, soused, hammered, blind, battered, lashed, poleaxed, slaughtered. You can be either langers or langered or even langerated. You can be steaming, pronounced shtaymin. Or mouldy, pronounced mowldy. Or you can just be plain fucked. But rarely, simply drunk” - A wise Irishman.

The Harlem Beach Party

Beach Bums
On Saturday, May 12, 2007, SOP threw a “Beach” party complete with classic oceanside cocktails, Painkillers and Madras, and a sultry summer soundtrack. Hosts and guests alike arrived suitably dressed to the Hudson River Beach Front property, generously supplied by Jenny Fleury and Eli Rood. **Company member Jyll Mihlek gave a sexy Go Go Dancing performance that brought down the house and made some unexpected dollars for SOP.**
